Perch
Privacy Policy
Updated September 2, 2026
Perch is a café workability app for New York City. This policy covers the Perch iPhone app and the API at perch.ginyusquad.com.
What we collect
If you continue with email, we store that address and send a magic-link sign-in. We do not use passwords. If you continue with Apple or Google, we store the provider account identifier and any name or email those services share. When you post, we store community ratings, comments, live reports, and optional photo uploads. If you allow location, we use it only to sort nearby cafés.
How we use it
We use this information to keep you signed in (a session cookie on the website, or a token on the iPhone app), to show workability scores from community ratings, and to review photo uploads before they appear on a café. Directory listings come from OpenStreetMap plus those community ratings — Perch does not invent cafés or copy Google reviews.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data. We do not share your email or photos for advertising. Seed or worker accounts used to bootstrap the directory cannot sign in as people.
Third parties
Apple and Google handle their sign-in buttons. OpenStreetMap supplies place names and locations. Hosting and storage run on DigitalOcean. Those services process data under their own terms when you use their sign-in or when we store approved photos.
How long we keep it
Your account, ratings, and approved photos stay until you ask us to delete them or we close the service. Magic links expire after twenty minutes. Sessions last about thirty days.
